sin refers to novelty and repetition. Both of these senses correspond to a new instance of some phenomenon in a pre-existing category of things.

In this case, there has already been some pali, but we need to perform a new instance of that work. sin describes the repetition of the task.
sona pi tawa ijo la jan Neton li pali e nasin sin.
Here, certain kinds of nasin already exist, but Newton creates yet another one. sin describes the novelty of Newton’s system.
Generally, sin means new when describing an object and anew when describing an action.
