ale

ale refers to everything.

ale is most commonly used as a modifier that refers to all instances of a noun. ma ale refers to everywhere, jan ale refers to everyone, and ijo ale refers to everything.

When used as a noun, ale may refer to a whole of something.

mi lukin e ale lipu.

I’ve read the whole book (lit. all of the book).

This isn’t to be confused with ale as a modifier referring to all books.

mi lukin e lipu ale.

I’ve read all the books.

Modifying an adjective with ale describes the extent to which that adjective applies.

nasin sewi li ken pona, taso nasin ala li pona ale.
